Anares Rioja Reserva 2018, Bodegas Olarra
Brand: Bodegas Olarra
Bodegas Olarra was created in 1973. It is situated on the outskirts of the city of Logroño in Rioja Alta and their winery, a Y shaped building, designed to make the optimum use of the space, both for prduction and for ageing the wine, is known as 'The Cathedral of La Rioja."From the very beginning, the ethos has been to combine the best of tradtional methods with the most advanced techniques in viticulture and vinification. The geographical location of the vineyards is just about perfect with the clay and chalky soil watered by the rain and the Ebro river. They also benefit from warm sunshine and the influence of the Mediterranean and Atlantic coasts. The Anares Reserva is made from Tempranillo (75%), Garnacha (10%), with the rest made up from Mazuelo and Graciano. The vines are around 20 years old and and the resulting wine sees 18 months in oak. Classic Rioja, smooth and mellow, with ripe red fruit flavours, complex gamey aromas, and long vanilla finish. So what's it like? It has an aromatic complexity with red fruits and smokiness leading to a gamey aroma. In the mouth it has great structure with a good fruit intensity and fine, mature tannins. And the finish is elegant and very long.
